February 27th: Kindergarten Commercials

The Kindergarten classes have asked for our help with their Pizza Store Storyline. They want to make TV and Radio commercials for their Grand Openings, so today we need to check our Garage Band and iMovie skills to be ready for them.

Today's Challenge:

I will provide you with some audio and video files that were made by some Kinders this week and you will use that footage to create a commercial.

1. Choose a partner.

2. Choose a television commercial or a radio commercial. Here is the criteria for your commercial
- It must be under a minute.
- It must have music to complement the message.
- It must somehow include the key information, which is:
    Swirly Pizza Grand Opening
    Tuesday, March 5th from 5-7pm
    Highland Elementary Classroom 9
    Pizza is $1 per slice
Proceeds will go to Highland's Sparrow

3. We will vote on our favorite commercial at 3:15, and yours must have all the above criteria in order to be entered.

4. *Bonus: The Radio commercial will be easier to complete but will be less creative. If you complete one commercial (TV or Radio) with time leftover and want to try working on the other one also, your team will get an automatic extra vote at voting time (even if the second one isn't complete). The extra vote will give your team a better chance at winning the challenge, but if your work isn't quality, you may not get votes from anyone else and not win even with the extra. So Quality is important and so is using time wisely.

Jordan and I will be available to help you with Garage Band and iMovie.

Have fun and be awesome.

Ready...Go!

PS. The video and audio footage is in my project box in a folder called: Kinder Pizza Files

February 20th

You guys are awesome!
The teachers LOVED your Valentines! :)

Alright. Here's our plan for today:

2:10 - Bring the Laptop Cart into the Computer lab so we can get it reorganized after OAKS! Phwew.
-Rewind all the cords
-Make sure each power brick is labeled with it's matching computer number (I'll bring some Sharpies)
-Fix any laptop labels (I'll bring the label maker)
-Let's pull out any power bricks that aren't working and test them with a different outlet and computer.

2:40 - Pages Poster Tutorial
-Let's look at some Minimalist posters.

Did you know we could make cool things like this in Pages?
Here are some my kiddos made:

Today we're going to do one of these together!

Today's Printer Challenge

1. Find your Partner:

Landon & Drexell
Sofia & Evan & Olivia

2. Get out one laptop for you and your partner

3. Uninstall either the Martinson or Vickery Printer on your machine (choose one, don't uninstall both). Show me so I can verify it is uninstalled.

5. Now, Re-install that same printer on your laptop using the IP address (you'll probably need my Admin PW, so quietly put your hand up when you're ready for me to enter it).

6. Go to my Pickup box and find the "Print This" page.

7. Find a way to digitally write both of your names on this PDF. (This is the hard part. Do you know how to do this? Does your partner?)

8. Print to the printer you just installed and bring the printout back to me. (Don't run in the halls or on the stairs. Yikes, that would be bad!)

First team finished wins Ninja points. Any teams to demonstrate ANY of the Marks of the iNinja wins points also.

February 6th Game Plan

Hi Team.
What an amazing week for the iNinjas! We're getting almost more requests for your brilliant services than we have time to do. What a great problem to have!

All the feedback from the teachers you have helped has been incredibly positive, so the word is getting around and others keep asking when they can have you.
Rock ON iNinjas!
I'm so proud of you.

This week, lets get started on our Digital Citizen Passports and then see if we can get a big chunk of our laptop maintenance out of the way, ok?

To Do:
1. Go to the Digital Passport Website

Complete "Search Shark" module. (Don't just play the game. Watch the video, because it has the information you need to win the game. Go for the win.
Ninja points for any who complete Search Shark this week...you can logon and do it at home if you like!)

2. When you finish Search Shark (or at 2:30, whichever comes first) Start working on your Laptop Check-ups.
Here is the list of what we've done so far (click on the image if you need it bigger).

3. At 3pm I have another iNinja Printer Challenge for you.
(I will post the challenge to this blog at 3pm, so have your computer ready to refresh at 3pm so you can see the post! There will be Ninja points for the first team to complete the challenge, but I will also be rewarding points for any iNinjas demonstrating the "Marks of the iNinja" while you're working on it!)

4. When you are finished with the Challenge, these are your choices:
1. Go back to finish your Shark Passport if not finished
2. Help me count out Earbuds for classrooms
3. Input spelling lists into the iPods for Mrs. Eriksson
4. Start creating your iNinja Notebook cover in Pages. (Chase did his at home, and he could be a great help if you get stuck on something in Pages. You can work on yours at home too, if you have Pages and would like to. You can also ask for my permission to spend some lunch time working on it if you wish. But I DO want you to use Pages for this project).

(Here's a picture of Chase's cover. How cool is this?!)
